Proper time for Revisional Double Eyelid Surgery

We suggest that you wait for 3-6 months if the reason for a revisional double eyelid surgery is simply an unsatisfactory result of previous double eyelid surgery. However, if patient is determined by doctor to have revision surgery in the beginning of healing process, it is recommended to have a revisional surgery within 2 weeks before the surgical sites are completely healed. Proper period of revision surgery is different depending on patient’s condition therefore face-to-face consultation with doctor is recommended before decision.

Double Eyelid Folds are too thick

Double Eyelid folds might seem too thick right after surgery due to swelling, etc. However, if they still look thick or swollen (like sausages eyes) long after a surgery around up to 1 year, revisional surgery should be considered.

Asymmetric Double Eyelid Folds

It is very common that everyone has little bit of asymmetric facial contours on each side including eyes. It is very normal to have asymmetric eyes, thus revisional double eyelid surgery may not be necessary. However, if asymmetry of eyes seems too severe over time, revisional double eyelid surgery should be considered.

Indistinct or Loose Double Eyelid Folds

If a non-incisional double eyelid surgery is done on the eyelid with thick skin or excessive fat without proper fat removal, it can result in indistinct or loose double eyelid folds. In this case, partial-incisional or incisional double eyelid surgery is recommended according to one’s condition.

Multiple Double Eyelid Folds

In case of multiple double eyelid folds, it can have an impression of strong appearance and sunken eyes. Thus, it needs to be corrected through revisional double eyelid surgery.

Thin or Low Double Eyelid Folds

Even if the result after previous surgery was satisfactory right after the surgery, double eyelid folds might not be so distinct over time due to saggy skin with aging process. Also, it might be the result of patient’s request for thin double eyelid folds at the time of priemary surgery due to anxiety or worries.

No Changes after surgery or Smaller looking eyes after surgery

When double eyelid surgery is performed on the eyes without nociting the existence of Ptosis, or on vertically short eyes, it can cause the shape of eyes to be too round. Revisional Double Eyelid surgery should be considered to correct the current condition.

Severe Scar on double eyelid fold line

It usually takes around 3-6 months for the scars to be fade. However, inappropriate suture method or patient‘s skin condition (Keloid) can leave severe scar on the double eyelid fold lines.

Stitch Removal

· 7 days after surgery
(It is not recommended to remove stitches so quickly, because rearranged tissues and skin structure in the eyelid should settle in its fixed position.)
Recovery Period

· Swelling and recovery take longer than the first double eyelid surgery due to its complicity and longer operation time.
· 70% of swelling subsides within 1-2 weeks
· Minor swelling goes away after 1-2 months
· Natural look achieved after 6 months
