Protruded mouth correction requires a surgery if jaw bones are to be adjusted, and orthodontic treatments are required if teeth realignment is needed.

Orthodontic treatments are normally meant to correct teeth alignments only. Orthodontic method of correcting mouth protrusion with abnormal jaws requires 2-4 years of wearing braces along with removal of 4 upper and lower teeth, even after which results are often unsatisfactory.

Orthodontic Treatment After Protruded mouth correction surgery

Postoperative orthodontic treatment is not always necessary, but it depends on the initial result of surgery.
If bone and teeth have not moved enough to fully occupy the space where teeth had been removed, a postoperative orthodontic treatment is needed.
